The air is contaminated as a consequence of a great many activities that we have developed as part of our everyday lives; both at an individual level (driving our cars, smoking, burning trash or making use of basic services, etc.), and an institutional or business level (for example, in the burning of fuels for industry or in the use of solvents, among others). One result of such activities is the emission of contaminant gases or particles into the air, which can affect our health and our environment. It is the aim of the Office for Research on Air Quality (DICA) to investigate these sources of contamination and their impacts in order to develop and implement new ways of reducing air contamination at both the local and regional level, with the firm commitment to protect the environment and human health.
