Who we are

In order to meet the objective of growth with quality stated in the National Development Plan 2001-2006, the Climate Change Program of the Instituto Nacional de Ecología (National Institute of Ecology), will encourage a sustainable use of natural resources by strengthening scientific research on mitigation alternatives of greenhouse gas emissions from the use (production and consumption) of conventional fossil fuels and from carbon capture in the forestry sector; as well as coordinate studies on the assessment of the country’s vulnerability to climate change and its alternatives to adapt to such changes; in addition to shared benefits of implementing measures and strategies to simultaneously reduce pollutant gas and greenhouse gas emissions to the atmosphere in metropolitan areas.
