IV Forum on Climate Prediction in the Mexican Republic

Mexico City, 10 June 2003
National Meteorological Service
National Water Commission

The IV Forum on Climate Prediction in the Mexican Republic was held on 10 June 2003; it was organized by the National Meteorological Service of the CNA (National Water Commission). Several institutions involved in meteorology and climatology, as well as a group of climate information users from different sectors participated in the Forum.

In Mexico, the First Forum on Climate Prediction was held in March 2002; the Second Forum in June of that same year; and the Third in March 2003 in the city of Querétaro.

Climate Prediction fora are intended to assemble a number of climate forecasting agencies with the objective of reaching a consensus on conditions forecasted for the following months or the next season in the country, thus obtaining a single forecast.

The results of the IV Forum on Climate Prediction in the Mexican Republic are already available for consultation at the following link:

These fora are held periodically, so another forum is scheduled for this year. The V Forum on Climate Prediction (winter climate perspectives) will be held in November under the auspices of Civil Protection of the State of Oaxaca.

For further information on these Fora or on the Consensus Document of the IV Forum, please see the following: Centro de Ciencias de la Atmósfera UNAM website.
